You'll then be transferred to your designated hotel in Kathmandu, a captivating city nestled amidst picturesque hills. After breakfast, you will embark on a cultural exploration of Kathmandu's prominent sites. The day starts with a visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where ancient palaces, temples, and courtyards showcase the architectural and artistic brilliance of the Malla and Shah dynasties. Next, you will proceed to Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, offering panoramic views of the city and a sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhists. The day concludes with a visit to Patan Durbar Square, another UNESCO site, renowned for its well-preserved Newar architecture, intricately carved temples, and fascinating palace complex. Day 3 of the itinerary begins with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a transfer to the domestic airport in Kathmandu, taking into consideration the schedule for the Kathmandu-Lukla flight. This approximately 30-minute flight offers picturesque views of the hilly region, bringing you to Lukla, the gateway to the Khumbu region and the homeland of the Sherpas, as well as the legendary Mt. Everest. The trekking journey commences from Lukla, and after a short walk, you will traverse small settlements, farming terraces, and streams before reaching the delightful Sherpa village of Phakding, situated alongside a tranquil riverbank.

The trekking today adventure progresses from Phakding as you head north, following the scenic trail that runs alongside the Dudh Kosi valley. Upon reaching Jorsale, the trail formally enters the Sagarmatha National Park, a protected area of immense natural beauty. Continuing along the trail, you will cross the Bhote Kosi River and embark on a steep ascent to reach Namche Bazaar, situated at an elevation of 3,440meters. Keep an eye out for your first glimpses of the majestic Mt. Everest as you traverse the trail. Namche Bazaar serves as a bustling commercial hub in the Khumbu region, offering various amenities and services to trekkers and locals alike.

The itinerary includes a designated rest day in Namche Bazaar, strategically planned for acclimatization purposes. This vibrant town holds significant cultural importance as the central hub of Sherpa society and serves as the administrative center for the Khumbu region. Notable establishments in Namche Bazaar include a police checkpost where trekkers must register, the headquarters of the Sagarmatha National Park, a bank, and a multitude of shops offering a wide array of goods. Additionally, numerous Sherpa inns provide accommodation options. During this rest day, trekkers have the choice to engage in optional activities such as a scenic hike towards Thame or a day hike towards Syangboche, both offering rewarding experiences before returning to Namche Bazaar.

Following a well-deserved day of acclimatization at Namche Bazaar, the trek resumes, propelling you further towards the majestic Mt. Everest. The day's journey commences with gentle and manageable terrain, as the trail gracefully contours around the picturesque valley. As you progress, the path gradually ascends, leading you to the charming village of Tengboche. This segment of the trek is considered a standard day's trekking, offering a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Upon arrival in Tengboche, you will have the opportunity to leisurely explore the village and visit the renowned Tengboche Monastery, where you can partake in the captivating evening prayer ceremony, immersing yourself in the spiritual ambiance of the region.

The trekking adventure continues as the trail ascends through an expansive open valley, meandering through the quaint villages of Thuklha and tracing the path alongside the impressive Khumbu Glacier. Eventually, it leads to the settlement of Lobuche, strategically positioned along the trail. Departing from Dughla, trekkers continue their ascent, traversing the moraine with reverence, passing a poignant row of stone monuments erected in commemoration of the brave Sherpas who made the ultimate sacrifice during their Everest expeditions. The trail persists, eventually arriving at Lobuche, a serene haven nestled at an altitude of 4,930 meters, providing trekkers with a rewarding and awe-inspiring experience amidst the majestic Himalayan landscape.

Today's journey is relatively shorter in distance, but it entails a significant gain in elevation as we make our way towards Gorakshep, the final lodging point before reaching Everest Base Camp (EBC). The trail guides us through a rugged moraine terrain, accompanied by low-lying juniper bushes as the predominant vegetation. Gorakshep is renowned for its breathtaking sunsets, offering panoramic views of the towering Himalayas. Notable peaks visible from this vantage point include Pumori (7,145 m), Lingtren (6,697 m), Nuptse (7,745 m), and the mighty Everest (8,848 m). The trek duration for today is approximately four hours, leading us to the tea house at Gorakshep. Afterward, we embark on a hike to Everest Base Camp, situated at a height of 5,350 m. The base camp allows trekkers to experience the awe-inspiring sight of the mythical Khumbu glacier, adorned with magnificent crevasses and seracs. We then retrace our steps back to Gorakshep, culminating another rewarding day of the trek.

Today's itinerary involves a challenging ascent to the renowned Kala Patthar hill, situated at an elevation of 5,545 meters. This day demands physical exertion, yet the rewards are immeasurable. The hike to Kala Patthar offers an exceptional opportunity to witness the breathtaking panorama of the Himalayas, with the majestic Mount Everest commanding the scene. Surrounding peaks such as Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori further enhance the awe-inspiring vista. As the sun rises over the snowy summits, a golden hue blankets the landscape, creating an unforgettable spectacle. Following the visit to Kala Patthar, we will descend to Gorak Shep for a nourishing breakfast before embarking on our return journey to Lukla. The trail retraces our earlier path from Gorak Shep to Lobuche, providing a fresh perspective on the ever-changing landscapes. Overnight accommodation awaits us in Lobuche, serving as a restful haven before our ascent to Gorakshep.

During the return trek, the route retraces the same path taken during the ascent, leading back to Pangboche. From Pangboche, the journey continues along a hillside, offering picturesque vistas of the renowned Tyangboche monastery and the majestic Ama Dablam peak towering above it. After crossing a ridge, trekkers arrive at Phortse, marking another milestone in this remarkable expedition.

Departing from Phortse, the descent leads to the river before embarking on an ascent towards the hill known as Mong La, reaching an elevation of 4,020 meters. Positioned just below the sacred Khumbila mountain, this vantage point offers a splendid panorama of the Himalayan ranges, with breathtaking views of the Dhudha Koshi valley. En route, trekkers will traverse cultivated terraces, eventually merging with the main route to Everest Base Camp. The journey then continues back to the vibrant hub of Namche Bazaar, concluding another remarkable chapter of the trek.

After having breakfast at the teahouse, we proceed to Lukla Airport to catch our flight back to Kathmandu. This exhilarating flight provides another opportunity to relish the awe-inspiring vistas of the majestic Himalayas on a clear day. The flight duration is approximately 35 minutes, and upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore and enjoy at your leisure. Rest assured, your accommodation will be provided at a hotel, following the Bed and Breakfast (B.B.) plan, ensuring a comfortable stay during your time in Kathmandu.
